If this was our final Mother’s Day, I’d want to say to you,
“I forgive you Mom for everything. I hope you forgive me too.”
I couldn’t always feel it, but I know your love was there
Hiding behind your trauma, behind your struggles and despair.
I am grateful that we found it before these doors were closed.
I’m joyful the illusion was defeated and exposed.
We persevered through the sickness. We persevered through the pain.
God helped us find forgiveness and nothing was in vain.
Thank you for your sacrifice, what I can and cannot see.
It took a special soul like yours to transmute that legacy.
I couldn’t always feel it, but I know your love was there
Hiding behind your trauma, behind your struggles and despair.
If this was our final Mother’s Day, I’d want to say to you,
“I love you mom for everything. I hope you love me too.”
